Below, we highlight some of those who lead many activities or participate in different camp programmes.
Bae Reh, Ban Mai Nai Soi
Bae Reh, 47, lives with a physical disability after losing a leg in a mine accident. He has been living in Ban Mai Nai Soi Camp with his wife, who suffers from a mental disability, since 1996.
Saw Moo Dah Shee, Umpiem Mai
Saw Moo Dah Shee, 28, is a Karen with many years’ experience working and volunteering with CBOs and NGOs in Umpiem Mai camp. He is currently working as a Community Managed Targeting (CMT) manager, a job that involves supervising 23 staff from different ethnicities.
Saw Hsa Htoo Mwe, Umpiem Mai
Having served as a section leader, zone leader, security in-charge, and as an elected member of the Umpiem Mai Camp Committee, Saw Hsa Htoo Mwe has worked for his community in many different leadership capacities since 2003.
